IRCTC launches online booking of retiring rooms

ALLAHABAD: Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has launched online booking of retiring rooms at railway stations. This will give tech-savvy railway passengers a new channel of booking retiring rooms in addition to the existing method of manual booking.Joint general manager (PR) of IRCTC Pradip Kundu informed that this facility has been provided to help passengers find accommodation in retiring rooms at the click of a button.

Presently, the facility is being provided at the retiring rooms in Mumbai and gradually other important stations of tourist interest and metropolitan cities will be covered.

Any railway passenger with a PNR of a confirmed or RAC ticket can make an online booking of a retiring Room. The booking can be made for all the passengers on the ticket.

The facility of online booking is launched both in IRCTC’s tourism website www.railtourismindia.com and e-ticketing website www.irctc.co.in. No registration or login-id is required for availing this facility.

People will be able to book online throughout the day except from 11:30 pm to 00:30 am.

A retiring room or a dormitory bed can be booked for a minimum of 12 hours and a maximum of 48 hours. One can book a retiring room both at the originating and the destination station of his journey.

The Service Charge for booking a retiring room will be Rs 20 for up to 24 hours and Rs 40 beyond 24 hours and up to 48 hours. For a dormitory bed, the charges will be be Rs 10 for up to 24 hours and Rs 20 beyond 24 hours and up to 48 hours.
